I went to my first local reef club meeting last weekend - it was nice to meet some people that I have "met" on the reef forums. It was held at a local club member's house and we got to see his 300g tank - really impressive!!!! I began to worry my tanks would never compare.

However, my biocube is beginning to sprout the nice coralline algae on the rocks everywhere. I am getting the pretty neon green, pink, and bright red versions. It's beginning to look a little like a rainbow in there, which is reassuring. my 6-line is doing well in there, sometimes attacking his reflection on the sides of the glass. I am thinking of moving him to the 29g soon, and putting some gobies, blennies and/or firefish in the 14g.

I removed some bioballs (about 20) last night, and did a water change. Going to slowly remove all the bioballs and replace with LR rubble in the back area.

The clown and chromis are both doing well in the 29g and have sorted out their territories. The nassarius snails I added to this tank are interesting to watch during feeding time. Not getting much coralline growth in this tank yet (still), so I am planning on seeding with a rock from the biocube once it's well-established.

I moved the rhodactis mushroom from the biocube back to the 29g, and it is opening much more now - it is much happier in the larger tank, so that is where it's going to stay. The ricordea is a happy (not so) little mushroom now, attached to its little rubble rock and making its home in the 29g too.

My calcium test on the 29g tank last week was 315, so I need to start dosing with the Ocean's two part to get them ready for more corals. I just have not had time this past week to start, and according to the bottles, I need to dose before the lights come on?? Since I can't get up early enough to dose in the morning, I will dose at night after the lights cycle off. I also need to pick up a syringe or dosing cup somewhere - when your tank is small, a measuring cup doesn't cut it!

My hubby and I were busy entertaining family this past weekend - we had a family BBQ at our house on Sat, so we cleaned the week before, had family stay overnight starting on Thurs, and entertained through Mon. I made it out to the beach (Cocoa, east coast FL) on Sunday afternoon, but it was already too late to soak up some sun and the rain brought us back within an hour. I didn't mind anyway since I prefer the west coast beaches anyway. So not much time to spend on the tanks!!

I took some more pictures, just need to find time to get online to download them and post them. Maybe tonight or tomorrow?

Nice to see all is going well in your tank!!! You have a Oceanic 29 BioCube? That is what I have. Once I bought my CPR S3 protein skimmer, I removed the trays and the bioballs, since there is no need for them anymore!!! I like the CPR S3 skimmer because it is made especially for the Oceanic BioCube.

Please keep us updated on your system along with photos, I would love to see them!!! AS far as coraline algae, I only have it on my live rock but nowhere on the tank its self. I guess it will just take time!!!
